Buena Vista bathroom remodel
Wilson-Covington was asked to remodel an upstairs bathroom in the Buena Vista neighborhood of Winston-Salem. The home, built in 1930, has previously had remodels done and the bathroom had a classic 1950s appearance. The owners desired to dress this up in an economical fashion by replacing tile tub surround with new subway tile, installing floor tile, installing a new vanity, and installing new plumbing and light fixtures. Here are a few before photographs of the bathroom:
Upon inspecting the bathroom Wilson-Covington determined that there was most likely framing damage in the shower wall (due to the use of a plastic transition between the tile and tub rather than caulking) and in the floor (due to leaking wax ring at toilet). This framing repair was budgeted in the estimate for the work. After beginning demolition of the shower walls, our assumption proved correct:
